The Verdict

Cell Energy's track record is a mess of contradictions. We found customers praising friendly staff and competitive prices in one breath, then warning about unresponsive management and disputed warranties in the next. One trucker describes arriving 10 days past warranty, getting verbal approval for a replacement, then watching the manager backtrack and substitute cheaper batteries mid-transaction. Another reviewer paid for a new car battery in November, had it die four months later, and got offered store credit instead of a refund when AAA confirmed the battery was worthless. The most telling pattern: 8 reviewers mention serious project management problems, versus only 2 who praise it. Several note the business appears closed or unreachable when they need support. If you're buying a commodity battery you can test immediately, you might get decent service. But if you need warranty support or post-sale accountability, the odds tilt sharply against you.

If you can inspect your battery at purchase and don't need to rely on future support, Cell Energy's prices may tempt you. But if you're planning a solar installation or buying anything you'll need to warranty later, the pattern of disputed claims and vanishing accountability makes this a risky bet.

Reviews That Shaped Our Verdict

Luis R.
YelpApr 20, 2017

Luis R. had been a battery customer for years, and when he recently decided to add solar he turned to the company’s Cell Energy Solar Division. He discovered their bid was about 30% cheaper than other quotes and came with a stronger warranty, which immediately set the deal apart. The team laid out the plan up front, walking him through every detail so he felt fully informed before installation. After the system went in, he kept running into the same strength: customer service answered quickly and stayed on top of any questions. What stuck with him most was the rare combination of a markedly lower price and better warranty backed by responsive support.

Alan F.
YelpMar 31, 2021

Alan bought a car battery in November 2020 for his vehicle and kept the receipt. At the end of March he discovered the car wouldn’t start — the battery was completely dead. He rang the store, but they refused to test the unit until the following Monday (the 29th), which left him scrambling through the weekend. He paid AAA $160 for an emergency replacement; AAA tested the returned Solar/Cell Energy battery and found it unusable. He dropped the old battery off at the store just before closing on Friday with proof of purchase and expected some resolution. Instead the store offered only $124 in store credit; he demanded a cash refund and gave them until Wednesday the 31st to pay. When he called on the 30th, they still offered only store credit, so he told them he would take the matter to small claims and add court costs plus the cost of the AAA replacement. Frustrated by the lack of help and by AAA’s assessment that the Solar/Cell Energy unit was failing, he warns others to avoid that brand and intends to pursue a refund through the courts.

Robin K.
YelpAug 22, 2020

Robin brought a semi with a battery pack the company had supplied, and about a year and ten days later all four batteries failed. They called to use the warranty; the company tested the batteries, found them low on charge, and the manager offered a warranty replacement if a follow-up charge-and-test showed failure. Robin dropped the batteries off, waited seven days for results, and was told the batteries were bad — so they asked the manager to honor the earlier offer. The manager reversed course, called it a “misunderstanding,” and refused a full replacement, offering only a prorated credit instead. At pickup the office staff handled the exchange unprofessionally. After the tech loaded the replacement batteries, Robin noticed one unit was damaged and asked for it to be switched; another tech then remarked they were selling a cheaper battery. The next day, while installing the replacements, Robin discovered two different batteries in the pack. When contacted, the manager insisted that all batteries they source are the same and that differences are only in the stickers. Robin asked repeatedly for the manager to call back but never received the promised follow-up. The concrete take-

What You Can Expect

Teresa A.
YelpJul 1, 2021

Teresa A. arrived in a bind with a dead golf-cart battery late on a Friday and discovered the shop still there at 5:00 p.m., even though that was closing time. She felt desperate, and the team waited for her, treated her kindly, and got her back on the road. A couple of months earlier she had picked up the wrong battery; they swapped it out without any hassle. After several years of buying batteries for her semis from them, she plans to keep coming back — the late‑hour help and smooth exchanges are what stuck with her.
