The Verdict

Martinez Electrical Services will solve your problem, but don't expect a seamless experience. We found 21 reviews describing fast turnarounds and reasonable pricing, and when Juan Carlos comes through, he really does: one homeowner watched him return after dark with the correct part to fix a lighting mistake at no extra charge. But reliability is inconsistent. Three reviewers reported confirmed appointments that ended in no-shows, and two described messy, incomplete work: one came home to thick dust coating newly installed hardwood floors because no drop cloths were used, while another spent weeks chasing the owner to finish a solar panel hookup he kept postponing. The professionalism gap is the real issue here. We noticed 18 mentions of strong follow-up support when things go right, but communication falls apart under pressure. If you need a straightforward repair and can handle a potential scheduling hiccup, the pricing is fair. If your project involves multiple visits or subcontracted solar work, prepare for friction.

If you have a single-day electrical fix and flexible timing, Martinez delivers solid work at a good price. But if you're coordinating a larger install or need rock-solid appointment reliability, the no-show pattern is worth considering.

Reviews That Shaped Our Verdict

Joe M.
YelpOct 2, 2024

Joe M. was remodeling a rental and, while searching NextDoor for a certified electrician to handle tricky wiring, found Juan Carlos highly recommended. He called about a balky bathroom light; Juan Carlos answered promptly and arrived the next day. Juan Carlos removed the ballast, rewired the fixture, and warned that the long LED tube he had bought might prevent the light from working properly. A few hours later, when the light still misbehaved, he called back. Juan Carlos explained he was finishing a large job some distance away but kept communication clear and promised to return. After dark Juan Carlos showed up with the correct part, completed the repair, and didn’t charge extra — a level of follow-through he rarely encountered during the remodel. The detail that stuck: Juan Carlos came back after hours with the right part and fixed the lighting at no added cost, leaving the rental safely wired.

Karen I.
YelpJan 13, 2020

Karen I. hired Martinez Electrical Services to install eight recessed lights in her living room in December 2019, right before Christmas. She came home to crews who had worked without drop cloths, leaving layers of thick dust on the furniture, kitchen appliances, counters and newly installed hardwood floors — dust that took weeks to settle. While crawling through the attic to do the wiring, they removed old cans, electrical boxes and wiring and simply left those discarded parts up there. She thought the owner was Carlos, and when she confronted him he shrugged and told her, “You came back too soon.” He promised to return with a dimmer that would actually control the new fixtures but never came back, so the lights remain so bright the family rarely uses them. What lingers is the mess through the holidays, an attic full of the old debris, and lighting that ended up unusable because the promised follow-up never happened.

Yvonne H.
YelpNov 24, 2021

Yvonne H. hired Juan Carlos to handle the electrical work for a new swim spa at her high-desert home. From the outset the project stalled on communication: her husband left multiple voicemails before finally reaching Juan Carlos to set an estimate appointment, and he never showed up or called to reschedule. When Yvonne later called on her own he arrived that same day and provided an estimate, then returned later to complete the pre-wiring so the spa could be delivered. They agreed he would come back after delivery to finish the hookup and the electrical setup. When she confirmed the delivery date he agreed to be there and even said he would start at 7:00 AM; by 7:30 he had not arrived and had forgotten the appointment. He apologized, promised to finish after a 9:00 AM booking, then by 11:00 AM still had not shown and told her he was “down the hill” and didn’t know when he could make it — though he insisted he would come even if late. Yvonne took time off work to be available, watched the appointment slide by, and ended up with an incomplete job and mounting frustration. She wants her money returned so she can hire an electrician with a more reliable work ethic; the lasting detail a

Rick A.
YelpApr 20, 2022

Rick hired Solor Optimum to install solar panels on his home; they brought in Martinez Electric as the subcontractor, and the job quickly turned into a string of communication and quality disputes. He found Martinez’s lead, Juan Carlos, arrogant and often unreachable — Juan Carlos repeatedly failed to return calls and told him he was too busy. When Rick objected to how the electricians were wiring the new electric panel and ordered the crew to stop, the crew pressed on anyway and phoned Juan Carlos, who promised to call back and never did. Rather than pausing until the homeowner’s concerns were resolved, the crew continued work and later left the site mid-day for lunch, saying they would return — then never came back or phoned to explain. At one point they wanted Rick to stand outside and tell them which breaker to switch because they wouldn’t enter the house due to COVID; they left without finishing the labeling or explaining next steps. Solor Optimum’s rep, Renne, intervened and sent Martinez back to address the problems, but the crew insisted their approach was required by code. Rick produced the relevant code language and was told the code had been changed; Juan Carlos then ph

Lori L.
YelpAug 23, 2022

Lori L. arranged for Carlos and his crew to repair her elderly father's porch light and install a motion sensor, scheduling the visit so she could be there while traveling from Northern California. Carlos and his team proved patient and professional with a very particular, hard-to-please dad, working quickly and efficiently to complete the job. She specifically asked Carlos not to discuss cost with her father and offered to pay; the quote came in very reasonable and the new lights are working perfectly. The only loose end is that she still hasn't received an invoice for the work. Her father ended up very satisfied with the results, and the outstanding billing is the one practical detail left to resolve.
