The Verdict

AAA Solar Construction appears to operate two very different businesses under one name. We found glowing praise for their remodeling crews, with 12 reviews describing skilled workers, early finishes, and fair pricing on kitchen and bathroom renovations. But the solar side tells a darker story. Seven homeowners described deeply uncomfortable sales visits: reps who asked how many people lived in the house before ever stepping outside to look at the roof, demanded on-the-spot commitments, and grew defensive when questioned. One homeowner ended a consultation within five minutes after the rep accused her of being "tense" for asking why he needed personal information. The operational patterns were equally concerning. We found repeated no-shows, a four-month backyard remodel where workers appeared one or two days a week, cracked concrete, gas lines installed so close to a fire pit the homeowner feared an explosion, and a window crew that finished demoing a wall after being told they'd brought the wrong product. One customer tripped over a terraced edge hidden three feet into newly installed grass. If you're considering this company for solar, the warning signs are hard to ignore.

If you need a kitchen or bath remodel and can verify the crew assignment, there's evidence of solid work. But for solar installations, the aggressive sales tactics and chaotic project execution suggest you'll spend more time managing the contractor than enjoying your panels.

3 Stories That Stood Out

1. Osbaldo R.
Yelp | Jun 26, 2016 |

While shopping for solar for his home, Osbaldo R. booked a single consultation with a company that mentioned a sister firm in the valley called The House Next Door Remodeling & Construction. A representative named Adi showed up but never went outside to look at the roof or mounting areas where panels would go; instead he pushed to move the conversation indoors. They sat down and Adi asked what outcome Osbaldo wanted — a question Osbaldo found unhelpful because he had sought the consultant’s expertise. Adi then kept looking around the interior and asked how many people lived in the house; when Osbaldo challenged the relevance, Adi offered no explanation and labeled him “being tense.” Adi also tried to probe about other estimates, which Osbaldo declined to share. With no exterior evaluation, no useful guidance and a string of invasive questions, he ended the meeting in about five minutes, leaving with no inspection, no estimate and a strong impression that the rep was more nosy than helpful.

2. Debbie O.
Yelp | Jul 3, 2016 |

Debbie O. hired AAA Solar Construction to remodel her backyard and pool and quickly watched the job devolve into a months-long scramble of missed appointments and patchwork fixes. She endured crews who showed up only one or two days a week for short shifts, frequent no-shows and delays, and a project manager who twice blamed her “mood” for the problems — all while the company repeatedly pushed for payment. She discovered there was no visible general contractor, pool specialist, or licensed electrician on site most days, just workers making incremental, often incorrect repairs. The workmanship left a long list of concrete problems and cosmetic disasters. New concrete cracked at both ends of the house; the coping around the pool and firepit came back crazed, mottled, cracked and discolored; and a gas line for the fire pit ended up installed tight against concrete, creating a real safety scare. When heat stained the concrete around the fire pit, they covered it with an unattractive rock replacement — roughly cut blocks with dark brown grout one-and-a-half inches wide. It took three tries before the gas burners even worked properly. Electrical and trim work fared no better: wires got

3. Carrie K.
Yelp | Jul 1, 2016 |

After seeing strong Yelp reviews, Carrie K. hired AAA Solar Construction to remodel a hall closet and to install a larger window on her home. The closet job unraveled first: a carpenter missed the June 1 appointment, rescheduled a few days later and arrived late just to measure the cabinet doors, then was booked for June 11 and never showed for demolition and installation. She waited all day on June 11 only to be told he was delayed; by June 30 the closet work still hadn’t been completed. The window install went worse. A crew arrived to remove the old windows, but the replacement on the truck was the wrong one. Carrie called Eric, the project manager, who contacted the crew — yet they finished the demo anyway and ended up breaking one of the existing windows before packing up and leaving. That left two old windows on the house, one broken and hanging outside with the stucco removed, and the opening unattended. Eric didn’t call her until late that evening to attribute the error to the manufacturer and promise a follow-up call the next day. What lingers in this experience is not just delays but poor jobsite oversight: the wrong window was shipped, the project manager didn’t catch

What You Can Expect

01

1. Julia S.
Yelp | Mar 18, 2016 |

After researching installers for her home, Julia S. settled on AAA Solar Construction without hesitation. She discovered that from the team’s first visit they came across as professionally polished, genuinely caring and unusually knowledgeable — a relief after reading about other firms that hire technicians who know little about the product or how it works. The crew handled the project with obvious competence, and after the system went live she watched her electric bill drop, which thrilled her. She steered friends and family to the company and admired the owners’ integrity and work ethic, noting that the company’s care for customers set the whole experience apart. Her clearest takeaway: real savings on her monthly bill and enough confidence in AAA Solar Construction to wish she could give them more than five stars.

2. Jon R.
Yelp | Dec 29, 2015 |

Jon R. hired Igor and Elmar to replace the windows on his home and install a solar system. He went with their suggestion to finance both projects through the HERO program. The window work turned out simple and easy to live with, and the solar system wiped out his electric bill—a result he celebrated. He singled out Igor and Elmar for great service, and the clear takeaway is that the combined windows-and-solar job, funded through HERO, delivered hands-on benefits: easy windows and no more monthly electricity charges.

1. Kenneth C.
Yelp | Feb 15, 2016 |

Kenneth hired AAA Solar and Construction for a modest walkway and patio project and went into it with a clear picture in his head after seeing the photos Tommy brought. He watched Tommy show up every day to make sure the crew matched that vision, and the team even started early on a weekend so work could move quickly. David, Carlos and two others (whose names he didn’t catch) tackled what Kenneth calls backbreaking demolition — including ripping out the hedges he had feared he’d have to remove himself. They tore out concrete fast, shaped the new patio and walkway precisely, and wrapped the job up ahead of schedule. What stuck with him most was Tommy’s hands-on oversight and the crew doing the heavy, messy work so he never had to lift a shovel; the finished patio and walkway look perfect.

2. Mor B.
Yelp | Dec 31, 2015 |

Mor, an Orange County homeowner, had grown tired of hunting for fair quotes and reliable tradespeople for home repairs. After talking with Ben she immediately felt she’d found someone who actually knew the work and the local market—his estimate matched the fair price she had in mind and the proposed schedule fit her timing. Ben and his crew arrived on time every day, worked in an organized way, and finished the job without the usual back-and-forth. She ended up sticking with the company for future projects; the standout detail for her was simply finding a trustworthy contact who shows up, quotes honestly, and runs a tidy, punctual crew.

1. Shay Y.
Yelp | Dec 19, 2015 |

A week ago, AAA Solar & Construction replaced the roof on Shay’s home, which had layers of wood tile and shingles stacked on top. During demolition the crew discovered the hidden wood tile and large sections of missing plywood, which meant new plywood had to be installed. Elmar and the AAA team understood their tight financial situation and absorbed the extra labor charge, leaving them responsible only for the materials. The finished roof came out clean, attractive, and fully up to code, and they singled out Elmar for being creative and hands-on—doing more problem-solving than a typical contractor. The detail that stuck: when unexpected damage appeared, AAA handled the extra work without tacking on labor fees, turning a potentially expensive surprise into a straightforward fix.

2. Yuliya O.
Yelp | Nov 4, 2015 |

Yuliya hired Eric and his crew for a major hardscape and landscape remodel of her backyard in Tustin, CA, and ended up with a transformation that looked nothing short of spectacular. She found the team highly professional and technically skilled; their workmanship and design pushed the project well past what she had hoped for. More than the finished yard, what stuck with her was Eric’s hands-on presence — he stayed involved at every stage, kept communication open, offered helpful insights, and was always reachable. She felt treated like his top priority rather than one of many jobs. The combination of thoughtful guidance and a standout final product made the whole process a clear success for AAA Solar Construction.
